Steve began his Taekwondo training in 2015 by attending family class at Master Michael Ivester’s school, The Taekwondo Center in Saint Louis. He has attended family class with several family members over the years. Steve earned his 1st Dan in June 2021 under Master Ivester.
Steve began training with Willow Martial Arts in 2021 after earning his 1st Dan. He continued training in TKD and martial arts weapons at WMA and began assisting with TKD tournament officiating. He focuses on nunchaku and short staff (Jo). He draws inspiration for the use of nunchaku and other Okinawan weapons, long staff (Bo) and Tonfa, from the late Sensei Fumio Demura. Steve received his 2nd Dan promotion in December 2023 under Grand Master Pat Weseman, and now assists with the Thursday classes at Willow Martial Arts.
